Tag axle question
Came home and parked our 2001 Dynasty, 40 ft with tag axle. Went to raise the tag to put a sheet of plywood under it but it would not raise. We can hear air kick in. The coach was not running nor was it plugged into shore power. Does the coach need to be running for the tag to lift? This is our first coach with a tag axle. Thanks

Yes, engine needs to be running, and there will be about a 2min delay after your coach air's up to travel mode, before you can raise tag axle.

With the suspension in travel mode if lifting the tag off they ground doesn't allow you to spin the tires by hand then there is an adjustment to raise it up more.

Our tag does not lift. We are able to dump the air to reduce the weight on it.

Just brought the coach home from a weekend outing. Backed into driveway. Motor running, tag still will not lift. When I flip the switch, I do hear air but nothing happening. She is a 2001 Dynasty, 40 ft. Any suggestions?

As you lift the tag it is supposed to exhaust air from the air bags so some air noise is expected. At the same time air is supplied to the lift canisters. If you have air leveling the HWH has the valves in manifolds to accomplish that and are located above the differential on each side. It would be time to check the fuses inside the HWH control box and in front run bay,
If you have hydraulic leveling there is a MAC valve probably on the frame rail PS next to engine that may be bad. It also is possible one of the lift canisters diaphragm has failed. The source of the air leak will guide you.

If you are backing into a slight up grade in relationship to the steer axle, then it might be unloading but not able to pickup enough to clear the ground on the up grade.

No, we are parked pretty level when we try. Yes, we have the air level system not hydraulic levels. When the rain stops we will check the fuses. Let's hope we get lucky and find one blown.

Tom, have somebody activate the switch while you are back there with a flashlight looking at the lift arms and see if they move or not. Maybe they are moving but not lifting it high enough.

Mine is located on the drivers side in the compartment just forward of my fuel tank compartment on the basement ceiling. It is covered by a removable ceiling panel that has releases knobs on it. Actually in the same compartment as my inverter.
