Tag Axle won't lift
Our tag axle is challenged. When I flip the switch to lift, air exhausts but no lift. I'm assuming a faulty dump valve but, questioning where to take it for repair. Is that a regular truck repair or is it done by a coach repair facility? I know that it won't be Camping World!! Currently in Maggie Valley, NC.
One other item...the chrome on the bases of the rear view mirrors and the entrance handle is lifting off. The mirror bases are manufactured by Velvac and were replaced in 2013. Surely they should last longer than that!?
Sure would appreciate some comments and direction.

Mine is doing the same I have noticed that looks like there is 2 air chambers that do the lifting. I suspect that the diaphragm is busted or leaking but haven’t dug into it yet

On my Coach (yours should be similar) the Tag lifting is done with two air brake chambers that push on a linkage to lift the axle.
There are two functions to lift the Tag, first the air in the tag axle air bags is dumped, then air is applied to the brake (lifting) chambers. You can reach in a press on the Tag axle air bag to make sure it has dumped (which is the sound you described by the "air exhausting").
I think you have a "lift (air) solenoid" that is bad or not getting power to open and let air through it. If one of the lifting chambers diaphragm was leaking you would hear the air leak continuously while in the raise position, and one side of the Tag axle would try to lift a little.

You know it takes about 2 minutes for the tag axel to lift.

How does that work when you need to raise it because you're turning off of the interstate or making a sharp turn onto another street?

You will feel the bind go away in about 2 seconds as the down bags deflate on the tag. That's all you need.

I occasionally give my tag wheels half a rotation if my coach sits in the driveway for a long time, for bearing lubrication purposes.
I press the lift button, and by the time I get to the passenger side tag wheel, it is raised enough to spin.

Not sure how it works on a 2008 but on a 2004 10 bag chassis when you hit the raise switch you dump the air bags and charge the 2 30 cans that lift the axel. As the tag loses its weight carrying ability the drive axle has to overcome the 7 to 10k pound's that has now been placed on it and raise back to ride height which will lift the tag off the ground. This takes about 2 minutes to happen. Maybe the 2008 has some special equipment.
Edit: 96 WG, When your suspension is dumped and you hit the travel button, can you drive away in the time it takes you to walk to the passenger tag wheel?

I don't dump air.
I have air leveling, and just press 'auto' right from travel height.
Most of the time to get back to travel height isn't raising the low corners, it's releasing the air from any corner or end that the leveling system has raised.

Your response and great information is greatly appreciated. I had no idea where to get all this info. Monaco doesn't seem to have any original data. Thanks!
