Television Upgrade
I have search the forum but have had no luck.
I want to replace the old TV that I have with a new flat screen. I tried searching for pictures and ideas but have had no luck.
What are some of the TV upgrades you have all done and can you post pictures?
Thanks
Attila

I did the TV in the front of the coach. Here are the before and after pics.
I found a TV that just fit the width of the cabinet. I shorted the height of the enclosure close to 4" and recessed the TV inside the cabinet just enough to give it that factory look. Hope this helps.

How did you shorten it? Did you have to remove the whole box, shorten it then re-install?

Here is what I did. New one mounted on piano hinge so I now have storage for paper products.

Yes, I removed the whole center section and did all my mods on the bench. There was a combination of screws and some staples holding it in place. Some of the screws were a bit more difficult to find. As you start the disassembly process and discover the box still won't come out, you'll start finding the staples. A little brute force helps in this area.

attilakara72,
I did one on my 99 Windsor you will love. I used a mor_ryde mount and it works awesome. It looks great and was easy to install. No cutting of the original wood. I will add some pics tonight when I get home. I used a TV1-025H.
MOR/ryde Products
I removed the outside frame of the TV enclosure and drilled holes throught the opening corners that would be hidden when I replace the "frame". I place a piece of 3/4 plywood slightly recessed accross the opening and mounted the TV mount to it. I then replace the frame so when the TV is locked down it is against the original frame and at the bottom I installed a Blu Ray player. I pull a release cable and the TV unlocks and can be extended left right and tilted up or down. It's awesome!!! It fits squarely over the original TV location. I do have to extend the TV to get into the cabinet to the left of the TV mount but I want a larger TV. I went with a 32, but you could go much bigger. The mount I used holds 25 pounds and the LED TV weighs 9. So you can go big, there is even another mount that holds up to 50 pounds I believe, but why? I'll send some pics tonight....

Old and New
I found some pics I had. I just added some more wires so my tie wraps were cut, but you can get the idea. I am going to stain the plywood to match the oak finish, although you can only see it with the TV extended. I usually don't extend it but my wife likes to. I am going to do a similar install in the back but I am not going with a articulating arm like I have up front. I hope this helps, your rig should be exactly like this. Good luck. I centered the TV to the opening but you could offset it if you wanted a much larger TV.

Nice idea and nice job!
I have only one question:
Did you modify your neck so you can swivel your head around to see the TV when sitting on the couch, (or don't you watch TV)?

Atilla,
I tore out the old cabinet and put my woodworking skills and tools to good use. Then I used the articulating arm like Tomjhall so I can swivel the TV to the far left to get it out of the way when not in use or toward the center when watching. I added support arms for traveling so it doesn't shake. If you don't have the ability to build a cabinet you can contract that out easy enough.
Best of luck with your conversion...
Glenn

Mine is a wood box wrapped in a leather like cover. (Actually it is wrapped in foam rubber and THAT is leather like wrapped).
I slit the cover,, Hammered teh bottom down.. Then scribed a line (Chalk line) from the back (higher) end of the bottom, to the front, level Sliced the plywood using a Black & Decker "Navigator" (A reciprocal saw) Folded the edges of the leather in (Removed some foam) and taped them to the cabinet sides and floor, Brought the bottom up and added a couple screws to replace the staples I pulled.
That was the basic, Also cut down the trim (Also wood) to match.
Plans: Mount TV on a door, or on a lift, so I can use the cabinet for storage. But that project got put on HOLD for a while.

Hi Mel! We have two recliners directly across from the TV!

When you travel down the road do the articulating arms vibrate and make noise?
