Temp gauge not accurate or ?

2006 Holiday Rambler Vacationeer 34 PDD. My temp gauge runs to the 3/4 and a little higher most of the time? I don't know if gauge is bad or if it is running hot! It has not boiled over but just looking at gauge is nerve racking! I have a cummins 300 HP Diesel engine! I purchased a OBD adapter in order to monitor the temp in the Data stream. The round adapter fits like it should on the plug and my scanner comes online but I have no info on model to tell it to scan? Has anyone used the adapter scanner to fix problems are look up info? Any help are info would be appreciated! Jboy

The problem with using the OBD II adapter setup is that OBD is for automotive (car and light truck) applications and you have a "truck" engine, so the OBD doesn't have the setup tables built in for your engine. Some of these scanners/adapters work, some don't.

Your best bet would be to buy a scanner designed for your engine.
The Scangauge D is inexpensive and will do what you want. https://www.scangauge.com/products/scangauge-d/

On the water temp, the dash gauges are notoriously inaccurate. You definitely want to verify the temp reading you are getting on the dash.
