When I bought my coach last spring, the Aqua Hot didn't work on diesel. It did heat with electric, so it wasn't an immediate problem.
I finally got the nerve and time to work on it a few weeks ago. I printed out the AquaHot manual which is really nice. It's got enough information to fix the furnace, most manuals don't go into nearly this much detail.
I had the dealer look at it, their "AquaHot expert" decided it needed bearings because the old ones were frozen. While it was there (for 16 weeks) they didn't get around to fixing the Aquahot, other items were higher on the priority list. Using the AquaHot manual I disassembled it enough to remove the burner. After getting to the motor, I discovered that it ran just fine when I applied 12 volts to it. So I now am sure that in addition to being slow Safford RV in Thornburg is also clueless. I ordered a nozzle and fuel filter from Roger and it arrived within a week. After reassembling everything it still didn't come on. Roger's site has a trouble shooting guide about what to do if the motor doesn't run. The third step indicated I had a bad control box. The control box for my Aquahot 01 is $350 used, $550 repaired or $850 new. Naturally, I opted for a used one. Again, Roger delivered within a week.
First test after that, the motor runs, it has diesel fuel (I can smell it at the exhaust) but it won't fire. I downloaded Rogers page on testing the igniter, disassembled it again and discovered that I crossed a pair of wires when I put it back together earlier. The igniter passed Roger's test nicely. After another reassembly, the Aquahot started and fogged most of the neighborhood with diesel smoke. Well, that's what happens when it has fuel but it doesn't get burned right away.
After a couple of minutes the smoke cleared. It ran for a while, I've got hot water, but didn't get a chance to check for heat. Not only that, but it shut itself down, so I think it's fixed.
Kudos also to zMike, I've also replaced the refrigerator with a Samsung RF18 and put a gas strut on the door. I'm not putting up any pictures because my work isn't nearly as pretty as his.
Our Monaco has two couches up front, DW wants a pop-up TV behind the small one and electric recliners opposite it on the driver's side. I haven't seen this mod done, so if I do, I'll have pictures for that one.
