The Dash that was Slow!
Just recently completed the rebuild of the dash in our 2000 Monaco Dynasty. It was more than we anticipated and took what seems like forever to finish. Anyway I didn't take a pic of the full dash before beginning. Here is a pic of the center dash panel and the portion of the large panel with the monitor. The other panels were in like condition. Many of the screw holes were cracked with pieces missing. Corners were cracked with pieces missing and etc. Holes had been drilled through the panels and the old fasteners used as bolts to hold the radio and monitor in place. Looked terrible. Although replacement plastic dashes are available we decided we wanted a dash made out of black walnut. Just happened to have some black walnut a friend had given us.

The original dash panels were in much worse shape than they looked. When we removed them, they literally fell apart. Pics tell the real story.

Hey Tim, thanks for looking. Put in 9 hours working on the dash components today and at 71 years old just don't have the energy to post anymore pics. I have to email them to myself 2 at a time, download them to my computer, then upload them to the forum. I would like to post the entire journey a couple of posts at a time so folks have a chance to ask questions. Hopefully what is posted will help someone else with their projects. Really enjoyed working with you on your A/C project.

Anyone annoyed with the fact you can’t see any of the gauges because the steering wheel is in the way.
I am planing a rebuild to put them in view.

I was just kidding, and I thank you very much for all of your help. BTW, I had a big vibration in the fan motor in my Honda Pilot yesterday so I pull the blower and it was full of all kinds of junk and now runs smooth. It was a 20 min job. One kick panel and three screws and it was out. I sure wish Monaco could have done that.
Tim

Use the app for your phone I can upload pics in no time at all. I use the app pretty much exclusively.

Is there a place that can make new bezels for your dash or switch covers?

The project is on it's way. First planed the walnut to about 1/4 inch thick. Then glued the boards up so we had the correct width. This is actually the 2nd iteration of the walnut dash. The first was a complete disaster, as the glue I used caused all the joints to come apart. Don't use Gorilla Wood Glue on anything!!!!!!!

The IRV2 phone app. is super easy to post up pics from gallery or right to/from camera. You can talk to type but I usually mess up too much trying to dictate lol. Although search function seems to be no good on my android wish it worked right I could post or follow links to old threads easier.

Barmcd, the arm rest panel was fairly easy to do. The next thing we did was measure the angles of the various pieces. (Bezels from now on) Using a heat gun, we were able to flatten them completely. Then we used double sided tape to tape the bezels to the walnut. After that was accomplished I used a forstner bit to drill a hole in each area to be cut out. Next we set up the router table with a bearing guided trim bit. All the bezels were cut out using the router table and trim bit.
