tile flooring under slideout
I am looking for any info.on replacing tiles under the slideout on our 99 monaco windsor. the slide is starting to get jerky when extending, also it does not sit sguare with the wall.it is approx.1" difference from top to bottom. upon looking under kitchen counter where the roller is it appears that the tiles are all broken up where the roller runs.if slide has to be removed is this something that can be done by the average diyer or does this have to go to a expensive RV shop. any and all info would be greatly appreciated

Maybe you can slip some type of metal sheet in under the roller on top of the broken tiles. deSanford

If your tiles are broken under the rollers, and you have a gap- there is something else going on there. Better off, taking it to someone who knows those mechanisms. Definitley, not a do it yourself issue.

We just had a local Camper and RV show near me and the dealer that I bought my RV from was there and we were talking about the slide out removal. As I was thinking about new flooring not because of broken tiles but just to update the interior. Anyway they told me it was about a 6 hour job to detatch and re-attach the slide-out. Their rate is $95 per hour so he said figure on about $600 just to prepare the unit to be worked on.

so- after they take the slide out- you will have to endure their 95 bucks an hour labor to install you new flooring. Slides don't need to come out. Its just pure pork for the dealers

Actually they dont lay tile. They said they have a local contracter that works pretty and would offer a quote, but not the $95 per hour. I wanted to lay the tile myself as I have a tile saw and have done it pleanty of times. Which they said I could do also.
But if I did it I would switch to a marble tile and at $4 to $5 per sqft and about 200 tiles plus thinset and grout I would have $1000 in material.
So why doesnt the slide out have to come out?

I assume the slide has a piece of carpet on it that is bound? If so, you can lift the edge of carpet and see where the tile ends. If the kitchen cabinets are on the slide, you can see where the tile extends so that the roller glides over that. You can take the tile up, shim the roller till you install the new tile and save the money that the dealer was going to relieve you of.

I would do as was suggested on a piece of metal or install new tile where broke, mark where the slide rollers are located with the slide all the way in and then put it all the way out attach a piece of aluminum or steel to the floor under the rollers bring the slide 2/3 in then I backed off the slide adjust nut and screw on all kitchen rollers (in my old coach it was two slide rollers under the cabinet floor) readjusted all rollers to just touch making sure all brackets are firmly attached then 1/2 round tighter and used a dab of loctite on stud and nut. Now if it is still drooping you will need to adjust the slide out track or hyd cylinders, if it is Hyd cyl I can give you the procedure I used.
