I find the remote to be redundant. My progressive surge protector works great-it has shut down on 4 occasions in the last 5 weeks-so it does what it is supposed to do-that is all I need. Progressive has a digital read on the unit itself-so the remote is a discretionary option.

Yes, the second remote display is redundant (by definition) but I find it VERY handy.

One display is by the shore cord - great for checking that everything is OK when plugging in.

The second display is inside - great for monitoring current draw and keeping an eye on voltage. But the real benefit is when the power goes out in the middle of the night during a driving rain, I can see what is the problem - for example high voltage (yes, had it happen a couple times.) It saved me from having to get dressed and go out in the rain to check on the pedestal and outside display, just to determine that there is nothing I can do about it. I looked at the inside display, decided there was nothing to be done at 3:00 AM, and got right back into bed while staying warm and dry.

Of course it's discretionary, but I REALLY like having both displays.

Tire monitors? I started with the TST. Easy to install, set up and calibrate. I have six on the coach and four on my flatbed. After my first blowout on the flatbed I had no warning until a fellow motorist pulled up along side waving his hands pointing rear wards. Tire completely gone, ruined the rim. Put the spare on and finished my trip. I talked to TST and he suggested steel valve stems because the stock rubber ones flex with the minuscule weight of the monitor. When they start wearing on the steel rim they crack and start leaking. They sent me a new one free of charge! Last week I lost another flatbed tire in Oregon. The alarm worked and alerted me to a loss of air and I was able to pull over and save the rim. Put my new spare on and went to a local tire shop to buy a new spare. I also had them put STEEL stems on all trailer tires.
My opinion: TST is good and their after sales is great. Put steel stems on your toads. Most, if not all motorhomes, have steel stems.
