Tire pressure monitoring system

Views and opinions on available systems, are they worth it? I just ordered Silverleaf VMSPC that I will pair with a small nettop PC and a remote 9" monitor. I know the pressure pro can pair with this system and give me all details on the same screen.

Welcome to the forum.

If you search "TPMS" you'll find a ton of reading material on pros and cons of various vendors' products.

I use the VMSpc running on an HP netbook mounted to my dash. I have the Doran 360 TPMS but wouldn't recommend them due to the number of sensors I've had failed.

If I were you, I'd probably go with the Pressure Pro sensors integrated with my VMSpc.

Best of luck.

Rick

I just finished reinstalling my Pressure Pro sensors on my new Michelins. I have had the Pressure Pro system at least 5 years and the sensors are still all working. In reinstalling them, I measured the air pressure in each tire and then installed the sensor. None of the sensors read more than 2 PSI off and most of them are exact. I will buy new Pressure Pro sensors when the batteries in these start to die. I have been very happy with the system and consider it my most valuable safety system.

About a week after I originally installed the Pressure Pro system, I was sitting in an RV park, drinking my morning coffee, when the alarm started beeping. It say that one of my inside duals was down 20 PSI. I assumed that since I was not on the road, that there was a problem with the system. After my coffee, I could not make the beeping go away, so I crawled under the coach, and sure enough, there was a bolt through the tire, causing a slow leak. The fact that I had the tire repaired, sitting in the RV park, and not out on the side of the freeway, in the driving rain, justified the expense of the Pressure Pro system. I also like that it monitors my toad tires, also.

I'm looking at Tire tracker now to replace a system I was using where I had to get the Chinese sensors cut off of my valve stems. Pressure Pro or Tire Tracker.

One advertises temp monitoring. If you think about the sensors flying around in the air, in the direct sun, hanging off a valve stem, that claim seems a little silly

When I bought the TST system, I had the same misgivings. However, when I used my infrared heat sensor to check the tires, the temperatures were surprisingly close to those being reported by the TST system.

I did the same thing and had the opposite result. Aiming at the center tread on each tire with my IR gun, the readings from the sensors were all over the place. It wouldn't surprise me if they were all just bad sensors though. Like most users here report, I had to have 4 replaced right off the bat. I was once a TST fan but after cutting the sensors off my valve stems I'm done.

I've been pretty happy with the PressurePro system that we purchased for our '06 Dynasty and our '11 Explorer. I have the receiver unit suction-cupped to the driver's side window and it works well, even without the booster/repeater unit that can be purchased separately. It just monitors pressure, but it is incredible peace of mind, going down the highway. Others reportedly work well, too.

I'm looking into a pressure/temperature tire monitoring system. I never heard of having to cut the valves to get the sensor off. What's that about?
With all of you knowledge now, what's the best system to buy. I see TST now has sensors with the ability of airing the tire without removing the sensor.
I have to buy a system soon. Any info is appreciated.
Thanks
Rick
