Tire Size Increase

2004 HR Ambassador, 4RR frame. OEM tire is 275/70R22.5R. Coming up on new treads for the front (timed out not worn out). Looking for a little better ride. Has anyone increased the tire size to 285 and how's the ride?

Are the tires on there now the original tires that came new with the RV in 2004?

Not sure about your coach, but I was thinking about a similar measure of increasing the tire size. I measured my clearance when the airbags were deflated and found that I didn't have enough clearance between the body and the tire to increase the diameter. Just my experience. I have a 2002 Diplomat. Yours may work.

Never heard of a 285 in a 22.5 tire.

Ditto on checking tire clearance, previous owner tried one size up on my coach and did a little damage when in tight turns.

they do make the next size up

Should be about 1/4 wider on each tread side and 1/4 inch taller (height from ground and above the tire) give or take a few millimeters

Easy to see if you have plenty of clearance but your not gaining much tire size if you wanted to lower psig to get a better ride

Plug the exact tires into a calculator to see for sure on the dimensions

Same ride I would guess or very similar
