Toilet "burping"

My toilet has recently begun a strange behavior... when I flush the toilet, it now burps... like a bubble of air is pushing up from the black water tank. In the past the water simple went down... now this. My wife now says that she smells the toilet more... something that we have never done before.

Any ideas?

Ron

Sounds to me like clogged tank vents.
As for smell; try the GEO method to sanitize your tank and keep it smelling...NOT SMELLING. Just my 2 bits.

I would start by checking the vent on the roof

I would dump the black holding tank first and do everything you can to make sure it is not full. The burping is an indication of a full tank because the liquid is above the vent opening in the tank. If you have emptied and it still is burping then a plugged vent could be the cause or a clogged dump valve may be stopping your tank from emptying.

Thanks for the quick feedback!

I emptied the tank and have refilled and emptied again, along with spraying the tank using the water fitting in the bay. I can see all the way to the tank when I flush. I like the idea of a blocked vent... just how do you clear it?

Get on the roof with a water hose flush.

Remove the vent cap from the roof and check for any blockage, if you don't find anything get a flashlight an look down the stack pipe.

let's back up a bit...
this is the monaco forum, right?
and most monaco's, even my lowly 08 knight, have techma electric toilets?

Is yours a techma, or a conventional "open the valve and down it goes" toilet?

Techma's don't flush worth a damn without water pressure....
