The cg in Pleasanton (Alameda County Fairgrounds) is a nice cg but it is sure no great shakes. No restrooms or showers, close together spots (but they are level), some grass some gravel with paved roads, essentially no shade, quiet and safe. However they are closed to public camping for three weeks during the county fair. We just got chased out of there and landed at Dos Reis Park in Lathrop. We have to stay in the area for medical reasons for three more weeks and there is very little to choose from. That's what Alameda County Fairgrounds has going for it- location.

They're located at the South RV park. Not very convenient, but they are there.

Last week pricing was $33.00 for 50 amp(Grass & Gravel) $28.00 for 30 amp (Gravel pads only) $48.00 50 amp pull thru (Grass only) if you are over 40' the only spaces you will fit in are pull thru. very basic spaces, but your there to see the city and with Bart so close it is still the best place to stay if you want to see city.
Cheers

I have heard that Aloha RV Park in Sunnyvale sometimes does shorter term rentals (they are mainly monthly, but it's certainly nicer than what I've seen at the Alameda County Fairgrounds, by far) if they have spaces open. Avoids bridges once you are here as well... and close to Caltrain which can take you up to the city as well.

Thanks to everyone..Does a toad make the total axles 3 or 4. If the DW did not want to go to Alcatraz I think I would bypass San. Fran. altogether. Sure hope my GPS works that day..sheesh and I thought that I had grey hair already...I'll have no hair by the time we get back...

We have already booked the KOA @ Petaluma so we are obligated to stay there. For going to Annahiem we can bypass all the city stuff but for our day tour..alcatraz and fishermans wharf well...The BART sounds good. I will have to look into that but I don't think it goes from Petaluma.

Thx
Ted

Worked for BART for over 20 years. Just in the bay area. Beats driving in the city.

Ted,
You may want to consider taking the Larkspur - San Fransisco foot ferry. Park the toad in their large parking lot just off highway 101 and enjoy the boat ride to the city..
When you do the Alcatraz tour rent the head set walking tour... It is well worth the cost.
Cheers

Both are great suggestions.
