Touchpad not responding on allison transmission

getting ready to go south the engine start, the touch pad lights up
when i press on D or R nothing happens i hear noise ii i press on the arrow just a clicking sound if i press mode it lights up.
the weather is cold -5c. this morning i put the furnace on and used a hair dryer on the touch pad after some time it did work went around the block shift perfect. seems to be temperature related

any advices

Your question and post will get more viewings if you have it moved to the Allison transmission forum.
You might try removing the touch-pad and cleaning the contacts for wiring underneath, and the fuse block. Often simply unplugging and reattaching wiring does the trick, but -5C is cold for anything to function properly.
