Towing a Silverado

Hello All,

I am not certain if it is OK to tow my Chevy Silverado on all four wheels. Just wondering if any of you fellow Monaco owners had a list of all towable and non towable vehicles. It has an automatic transmission. All information is appreciated.

Thanks

One place that lists the "4 down" towables is: http://www.motorhomemagazine.com/
Scroll down the main page, about half way down on the right side you will find links to their dinghy guide from 2002 to 2009. Note that their listing is according to what the manufacturers state. Also, if you are a FMCA member, I believe they have a similar listing on their site.

If your vehicle is not towable "4 down", try this site:
http://www.remcotowing.com/
Remco has alternative solutions to towing 4 down including lube pumps, drive shaft disconnects, etc.

Hansville...
Is it 4WD with a transfer case? What year is it?

These are pertinent questions. Some Chevrolets are towable and some are not. We own a 4WD which is towable. There are certain things that you must do to tow it...

As MM notes above, most 4WD Silverados are towable.

Check your owner's manual.

GM has excellent towing info in their manuals.

we toe a 07 silverado four down. It is auto trans and is 4x4. It toes great. We also toe a motorcycle on the back of the silverado in the bed.

I have a 2WD automatic silverado, it seems to be OK to tow on all fours. I will also check the owners manual. Thanks for the information.

Hansville -
Our 2007 Diplomat tows our 2006 4WD Silverado CrewCab very easily but according to the Chevrolet owners manual (on pg 4-62 of the 2006 Owners Manual) you cannot tow your two-wheel drive truck in the "4-Wheel Down" manner.

You would have to add something "aftermarket" (like the Remco) in order to do so.

Please do not tow "4 wheels down" with the way the vehicle is set up from GM!
