Trace Invertor / charger

2002 Monico Windsor
Trace 2000 watt Invertor / Charger
Plugged into shore power my wife turned on the Microwave and all the electrical plugins went dead. In the bedroom of the coach there are two electrical service panels. One is the main panel with the main breaker and all the breakers for everything that is 120 V in the Motorhome. The small electrical panel are the breakers that are supported by the invertor Microwave front and rear electrical plugins. My problem is this, I don't have power to the electrical panel for the invertor. It is still charging while plugged to shore power. It looks to me like the invertor has an issue. Has anyone else had this issue ? Second part Trace is out of business and Xantrex does not have a direct replacement. Has anyone replaced their Invertor / Charger with auto start ? What did you use as a replacement and how did you install since the wiring has to be replaced. Any information will be appreciated.

Take a flashlight and look at the inverter and you will find a push button reset breaker in the upper right corner of the Trace inverter. It is probably popped and needs pushing back in.

The inverter has two breakers and a reset button, make sure you reset the breakers than press the reset button . Do you have power going into the inverter?

Not that model, just one breaker. I assume you have looked at the RC7 remote panel and made sure the inverter is on. If so try disconnecting the telephone like cable from the Trace Inverter and plug it back in. It will reset the software to the Remote Control. Had to do that to mine several times.

If all that doesn't work then you have to power down both the 110v and the 12 volts to the inverter and try to totally reset it.. What you have experienced wth the Trace is common and most of the time it can be reset one way or the other.

That model Trace is the same as mine and when it failed on me I thought it was going to cost me big time. Then I friend of mine said it was just like the fighter jet we were working on. If the electronics went south on us we would cold iron the jet and restart it and all would work. The same thing seems to apply to a lot of electronics these days.

Need some help ! Resetting the inverter got the inverter working but it is not working properly.
With the shore line not plugged in the inverter powers up the inverter breaker box and everything works that comes out of that box. The problem when you plug something in or turn on the microwave the inverter goes into error and shuts off.
If the motorhome is plugged into shore power the is no power coming from the inverter breaker box the same with the generator running. I'm now thinking there is something wrong with the inverter does anyone have any thoughts on this.
Thanks

My owners manual states not to run the microwave just on the Trace inverter. Says you need to start the generator or to be on shorepower.

Thanks for your reply Mike. I have tried several power sources and it faults after a few minutes. The main problem is I dont have power to the inverter breaker panel when Im on shore power or the generator. The switch works properly because everything else works. When I reset the inverter I have power to both breaker boxes until it goes into fault. Someone has had this problem Im sure. I checked the batteries this am and all are good. Im thinking it has to be the inverter.

When the inverter is off, and shore power on, do you have power to you 110 outlets and 12v accessories( light fixtures) ?

When I'm hooked up to shore power or the generator is on I have power to the main electrical panel but I dont have power to the inverter panel. All outlets have no power but I do have 12 v power to all the 12 v lights water pump etc. If I reset the inverter everything works as it is supposed to until the inverter trips then I have the same no power to the 120 v inverter breaker box.

It has to be a faulty inverter, my previous 2000 Dip had a similar inverter issue, after replacing inverter all back to normal. Did you call tech support get their opinion?

The replacement inverter did not have built in breakers, I added a sub breaker panel , not a big issue, direction provided by inverter supplier.
