Trace SW 2512 quick setup

I'm helping a friend replace house batteries and setup the inverter in his 2003 Signature. The new batteries are 8D Gel batteries. I've read the manual and cannot find a quick setup guide. We just want to configure the charger portion for Gel (not flooded) batteries and set the incoming power current correctly. It looks like there are a lot of parameters that need to be set up and I'm not sure I know all the answers.

I assume he has the RC7 remote for his Xantrex/Trace Inverter (since his Coach is pretty high end). Note the settings on the third row.
Here is the settings summary page.

I'll try to upload the entire manual here if it is not too big. Else PM me and I can e-mail you a copy.

No it has the old Trace SW2512 Inverter. A great inverter but rather complicated because it is so customizable depending on whether its in a house powering with Solar/wind/generator or selling back to the grid or in a yacht or in an RV. Most of the Zantrex units I've seen have pre-set configs for flooded batteries versus gel which simplifies the setup. Judging from the manual we will have to manually program float and maintenance voltage settings.

Edit: I noticed you mentioned you've already read the manual. So perhaps this isn't useful. Not sure a "Quick Start Guide" exists for these.

The setup for the charge voltages and so on, are set based on the batteries which are being charged. Your best bet would be to find a spec sheet for the batteries, which should have the critical charge voltages and numbers you need.

This is what I used to set my inverter, although mine has only the default battery type options. I've attached the spec sheet for my batteries, as an example. My battery spec sheet specifies the charge voltage and float voltage; the battery manufacture also provides an owners manual for the batteries which has much more detail, but it is too large to attach here as an example.

Thanks. The batteries are NAPA AGM and the Bulk and Float voltages on the label are within the default settings on the SW2512 so we installed them without making modifications to the charger settings. I'm checking on the Web for additional details for those batteries to be sure we don't ruin them.

Interesting discovery: if the batteries are at 4 - 5 volts and you turn on the charger; it won't charge the batteries. You have to attach an external charger to bring the batteries up to a level where the Trace SW 2512 will charge them. How strange is that?

Another interesting discovery: the "Big Boy" battery isolator relay on the Signature doesn't function if the house batteries are at 4 volts and the chassis batteries are at 13.2 volts. It will not boost the house batteries from the chassis batteries to bring them back up so they can be charged. Never seen a setup like that.
