Transmission dip stick.

On my 2008 Monaco there is no dipstick for the trans in the back of the coach. Is there one some ware else? I checked the level with the controller and it says low. I would like to know how much I need to add without going to high.

There should be a dip stick on top of the trans, a access door in front of the closet. If you are checking trans fluid electronically the trans has to be at least 140 degrees F. The fluid expands with heat like oil does so your level will increase.

You probably don't have a transmission dip stick, they didn't put them in new units.

If you used the control pad to check the oil it should have flashed how many quarts low i.e. LO 3

Here is a flyer I found that has the different shifters with the way to read oil level etc.

My advise would be to add 1 quart at a time and then recheck. Easier to add then to take out.

You REALLY need to tell us what transmission you have.

And what does your shift pad tell you for how low you are???

It should tell you how low it is.

Try again making sure the temp is good and hot, it takes a while.
You'll have to drive for a bit.

As above don't add a bunch at first and you may have a dipstick under
the bedroom floor hatch.

Looks like you have a 2008 Diplomat. You should open the hatch in your bedroom floor. This will give you access to the top of the motor and transmission. You should see the trans dipstick.

Thanks guys. I will check it again and look for the number of quarts. I did not notice this when I checked it.

MIT12,

I have a 2008 Dip with the 400ISL and I have a transmission dipstick right off the trans. accessed through the floor hatch BUT I also have one behind the right rear access door to the right of the radiator. Are you sure yours isn't hidden?

Right behind the surge tank almost against and touching each other I have the engine oil fill tube, engine oil dipstick and the trans. dipstick They are all 3 almost in the way of one another.

Allison recommends using the shifter pad to check oil level anyway. Follow the procedure, make sure you are up to operating temp and on level ground. It will tell you oil level.

Again, if says to add 3 quarts, add one and check again.

I had to have my radiator replaces and as a result lost some transmission oil. I checked it and it said 3 quarts, added 1 and all was good.
