Transmission Problems with Remco Pump?

I am towing a 2003 Suburban 2WD, automatic trans with a REMCO auxiliary lubrication pump. I towed the 'Burb' for about 15-20,000 miles when I started to hear low gear noise. My trans guy (who I trust) said a 1st gear bearing had failed. Since I had about 115,000 miles on the transmission, I accepted it as a natural part of wear and tear, and had the transmission rebulit. Now, 20,000 miles later I'm hearing the same noise and plan to have the transmission inspected for the cause this week. My mechanic says he'll be able to tell if it is a lack of lubrication, or a defective bearing. I have a suspicion it is deja vous all over again and the Remco pump is the cause

My question is, before I get into this with Remco, has anyone else had similar problems towing a large 2WD vehicle with a Remco aux pump?

Thanks,
RVsteve

My toad is certainly a different class of vehicle than yours, but I've had good luck towing my 2001 LeSabre (FrontWD) using a home-brew tranny lube pump (based on the Remco design).

Sorry for your loss mate, had heard lots of horror stories over the years. Figured I'd stick with my no hassle old Brit made Range Rover...go anywhere anyhow anytime. Transfer case in neutral and Cheers.

We towed a Buick Lesabre over 30,000 miles with a Remco lube pump with no problems. The only problems I am aware of with the pump was caused by the radiator/transmission oil cooler being partially plugged and allowed the flow to be reduced and temp to rise.
