Trek Electro Magic bed issue

I just purchased a 1998 Trek with the Electro-Magic bed and it seems that I have an issue with the bed. When I lower the bed it automatically stops where it should. But when my wife and I get on the bed (we are NOT heavy-weights) the gears turn slowly and lower the bed another three inches. This crushes the bed and the built-in lamp into the table, breaking the lens and scarring the table. I am going to install a system of blocks to prevent this but it is a temorary fix at best. I wonder if there are any Trek owners here who might have had a similar problem. Thanks for reading.

You should join the Safari Friends Yahoo group and ask there. That group is frequented by mostly pre-Monaco made Safari owners.

We had a Trek several years back and we had some clamps that fit on the rail when the bet was all the way up.We just put them under the bed rails after we lowered it for sleeping. Not sure where to get them, but there use to be a site called TREK TRACKS that was for Treks only and had a lot of great imfo.

Allied Recreation ( 877-466-6226) sells these magic bed track blocks. The motor also has limit switches that can be set on the bottom of the bed through the carpet with a small screw driver or probe without removing the carpet. This spot is located behind the drivers side underneath the bed on the corner. Allied can also give you more specific instructions through their tech personel. I know this because I needed to make an ajustment for the bed to drip an additional 6" to make the bed easier to get into off the floor without using a stool.

Good Luck
