trouble reading engine diagnostic code

The warning light in the dash is lit up on the 99 diplomat.

I turned the key to "run". Then i hold the engine diagnostic button. Instead of the check engine light flashing like i read, the warning flashes once for the start of the code. Then the stop engine flashing for the code begins.

When the stop engine light flashes for the code it flashes twice for the first number. Then 4 then 1. So according to the ISC codes, 241 means vehicle speed sensor. Which would make sense since the speedometer reads 10-15 highat 60.

As i continue to hold the code repeats, but instead of flashing twice fir the first number, it only flashes once then 4 then 1. So the code is now 141 which is oil pressure switch/sensor/circuit.

On the first run is the stop engine light suppose to flash once to let you know the diag. code is begining? Because there is no pause between the first flash and the second flash to give the 2 in the 241 code.

After reading some previous post turns out that the first flash of the "stop engine" is to let you know the flash's that follow are the beginning of the first number of the code.
