Turbo Boost

I just noticed the turbo boost gauge on the dash is not registering. Since I am new to this coach I am trying to remember if it ever showed up as working. I don't know if this is a faulty gauge, a faulty sensor, or something more hideous as a turbo not working on our 05 Monaco Windsor. How can I tell?

You would have very little power if your turbo was'nt spinning.

Mine was like that. I found where the plastic hose for the gauge attached to the intake manifold and disconnected it and found the brass fitting had a little bronze dampner in it to smooth out the gauge pointer and it was full of carbon from the EGR system. I drilled it out with the smallest drillbit I had and my gauge reads correct and never had another problem with it.

The sending unit at the engine gets plugged up and needs to be cleaned periodically.

It is normally a white or yellow plastic tube going into a small brass fitting that is screwed into the intake manifold

Plugged up with what ?

If your boost sending unit is getting plugged up, you better check all of the intake plumbing back to the air filter.

A hand full of dust will ruin your engine.

It is not dust. Read my earlier post. It is carbon generated by the exhaust from the EGR system.

It should just be in the cast iron intake manifold.

Off topic--Mike, I don't know the reason you moved from Marietta, GA, but I hope you are not freezing your 'nads off in Maine. I guess there is not much chance of "winterizing" a coach with light bulbs there, huh? LOL

Always enjoy your posts!

Van, when I moved up here was on 2nd of January three years ago. It was cold and covered with snow. I had to winterize before I could shut the motorhome down. I wrote up a list of what I had to do it what order. From the frig to the washing machine and especially the Aqua Hot. I was really worried until spring when I filled it with water and tested everything and it was all good.

Maine is the way life should be. I love it up here. Just bought a house on six acres that was built in 1782.

Don't need a 30 amp plug because we don't use air conditioning up here.
