Turning Heater On Blows Bedroom Fuse

The thermostat in the dining area of our 99 Diplomat USED to have a "Furnace" setting, but that seems to have vanished from the display.

Before, the heater, when switched on, would blow the fuse in the bedroom.

Any ideas what could be causing it?

The fuse that blows out is in the fuse area next to the bed.

Thanks for any tips or insighht into this...

Fuse that is blowing is the one for furnace (and also goes to t-stat)

Your T-stat is bad......replace it
Get a Hunter or Honeywell Digital T-stat that uses AA battery
$25 at Walmart/ACE/Home Depot etc

I'm not sure that is actually the case. How are you making that determination?

The thermostat works fine for the A/C system. Further research indicates that the "missing" furnace functionality could have to do with corroded DIP switches in the system. Which is, obviously a completely different issue than the fuse blowing.

We had some work done on the fuse box earlier last year, because our 12-volt lights were going out. A circuit board was replaced; the fuse-blowing started months later, because it didn't occur to us to test the furnace until the weather had grown cold enough to use it.

Another learning experience in our first year of RV'ing full-time.

You could get a rebuilt t-stat from this guy - DOMETIC 4 BUTTON THERMOSTAT #310 6463 007 EXCHANGE - on ebay. I replaced mine about a year ago and solved problems I had been having for some time and all works well since replacement
