TV and Audio System 2003 Windsor

We're having some real trouble understanding the entertainment system.

2 TVs
Multi-disk DVD player
VCR
And 2 multi port switches.

All Sony

I can't figure out how to get the audio to emerge from the surround sound system.

Shouldn't I be able to watch TV, DVDs and VHS with this surround system?

The dash radio plays in all the speakers, including the ones in the bedroom.

I think all these devices are original, but I can't be sure.

These switches are throwing me also.

Anyone have any ideas?Click image for larger version

On my 03 Windsor I have a switch located in the center console , where the
dash radio is .
I am not at the RV right now but I believe this sw is labeled something like
radio / tv or maybe just speakers .
It is in a row with other switches .
The sw controls a device called River pk , this device is located in the cabinet
to the left over the drivers head .

That is the switch to play either the TV audio or the in dash car stereo through the same speakers of the coach. You should also have a sub in the wall cabinets under the dinette table.

Update:

There's a DVD player over there driver seat that had a massive wiring harness coming out the back in addition to the standard video and audio cables that run toward the TV.

I suspect this has something to do with that subwoofer and ceiling speakers. Since I can't get a DVD in this thing, could to be the culprit?

It would seem that I should be able to watch TV and have any audio (tv, DVD, VHS) and have that come out through the sub and ceiling.

Your top unit is a video switching box...NO audio (no RCA plugs into it). Hopefully you have the manual for the big unit with the remotes on top of it...you should be able to get sound to all of the speakers using it. In my 04 Dynasty I did away with everything up there except that Sony unit But I had a separate Sat receiver and DVD player in the BR for the second TV and I upgrade to larger LED TVs that will mount on the face of the cabinet and they have multiple inputs built into them...no need for the top video switching unit. This will allow you to get rid of a lot of cables up there. Otherwise, good luck, as you’ll need it.
PM me.

Have you tried operating the Radio / TV sw you mention above ?
When the dash radio is playing that sw should sw the speakers from
radio to tv rendering the radio soundless .
If that part happens it will imply that at least the sw is in play and the
problem is most likely in your tv equipment or the wiring to the equip .

As Ivylog mentioned the little sw box with many buttons is not wired
to audio stuff it is to sw around coax signals to various TVs etc .
Most if not all of that original equip is out of date and will be difficult
to use now .I do not have that push button sw anymore that switching
is now done by my tv remote using the various inputs on the back of
the tv .
However the audio sw on the dash should still work just fine with old or
newer equip .

Yes absolutely you should be hearing sound .
It's been a long time since I operated the old orig equip but I believe
the DVD player is also your surround system .
That is probably where the problem lies .
If I recall the DVD is also an AM/FM radio receiver .
What I would do is get the dash radio playing then operate the dash sw
so the sounds stops this makes sure the speakers are switched to the
equip ( DVD ) up above . Then see if you can get the DVD/ Radio to
power , up if it will , operate the buttons on top of the dvd till the radio part
of the surround plays through the speakers .
If you can get sound then you are at least half way there .
I remember those buttons are a puzzle to get set right , partly because
you can't see them .

I suspected that DVD player is the culprit. I'll take some better pictures of all my switches and everything and maybe get some comments and suggestions.

What I have now is the radio works in the front Lounge as well as in the back bedroom. The subwoofer also works I just can't get any sort of sound from those speakers coming out of the TV. I do however get the TV speakers on.

so all said, the components work individually I would just like to be able to watch a movie with the nice surround sound.

Like I thought I was saying the dash switch must first be in the TV position .
Then you can start trying to fire up the Sony surround system which is also
the DVD . I'm pretty sure you will need to have the DVD/ Surround System
operating to get sound . I think all sound comes out of that unit except the
dash radio .

Will the DVD power up , any lights or other signs of life ?
Have you pulled it out to see if the mess of speaker wires are actually hooked up ?
You will also need to make sure the RCA cables connecting the TV and DVD
are in place .

On our 03 Windsor we only get surround sound with the dvd player playing a dvd. The volume on the dvd player is used for the surround sound. All the speaker wires are connected to the dvd player. When just watching TV channels through the antenna then there is no surround sound.

We also get surround sound through the dash stereo.

My guess is you are missing an audio connection between the TV and
the DVD .
TV sound should play through the surround sound system .

Did you replace the original TV ?
