Under entry steps lighting
I've noticed a few coaches with under-entrystep lighting on at night. Looked in that area and found a round amber lens which I removed and found a 193 bulb that appeared to be okay. Replaced it anyway and I still do not get any light from it. My 2008/2009 HR Scepter coach manual has no info on how it is activated. Neither the porchlite switch nor the step lights switch had any effect. It's got to be a simple. Any thoughts?

On our Beaver, the light comes on when you extend the step, I haven't actually seen it time out, but my guess is that once extended, the light shuts off after a time delay.

If yours are made by Kwiki, and I suspect they are, that round light should come on when the door is opened and either time out in about 2 minutes or turn off when the door is closed.
I tee'd into the positive side and ran a wire up to an LED light in the stairwell. It is one of the best little mods I have done! We can see the light switches inside when we go in after dark! No more fumbling around! The light goes off when the door is closed again or will time out if the door is left open.

The amber light below the step comes on and off as you operate the step. It will only stay on for few seconds regardless of the position of the step. This is done by the step controller. Step controller also gets a feed from porch light circuit. The light under the step is design to stay on with the porch light in on position. While you operate the step have some one watch the light, if the light comes on and off as design You may be missing a connection from the porch light.

Mine comes on when I turn the porch light on--it doesn't come on when the step comes out.

I did what Unplanned did. I just control it from a switch now.

The light under the steps is a bad choice. I replaced mine with a LED side nav light. Anything 12v will do.

In my 98 Dynasty the light only works when the step switch is on and as I leave the step switch in the off position it never comes on.

Everyone I'm getting ready to modify/update my 2008 Camelot entrance steps. As you know I installed new carpet in coach, now it time to update the entrance.
Still waiting for done parts to arrive before I go head deep into the project. Here are my ideas.
1) remove existing stair lights,
2) extend treads 1/2" to allow amber strip LED to be installed on each tread but hidden behind tread nose
3)replace carpet sidewalls, and step cover top only.
4) looking at mirror finished SS for the face of step cover as you see it stowed facing entrance.
5) laser cut either Monaco emblem in the SS or Camelot by Monaco. Think of back lighting with amber LED?
6) add dimmer for stair lights to make it adjustable.
7) add LED strip for outside step entrance and wire to porch light, may add motion later.
That's it, any add on ideas please share.
Perry

I added the 3rd light to the top step. All LED. Also added a strip outside just below the curve of the body side. Tied them all together on the 1 switch at the entrance.
I went with rubber treads, even with that, the can be slick with wet shoes.

John noticed your step cover face also has the riser and tread installed.
