Uneven airfill '04 Beaver Monterey

Hi all I have a 2004 Beaver Monterey that has developed an odd behavior. When I air up the suspension after a weekend out, the right side rear bags are filling much quicker then the left side. It's great for getting any standing water off the roof, but I really should fix this. The system holds air pressure for days but when we take it out, I dump the air before I level it.

I do not have the optional air level system, only the hydraulic jacks. My routine has always been to raise the leveling jacks and then start the engine and allow the suspension to come to ride height and then bring in the slides. Everything else seems to work fine and as the left side comes up, the right side will drop back to normal and the coach levels out.

Seems to me, there is a proportioning valve that is supposed to keep the coach more or less level.

Anyone have any thoughts on this one?

Chris

Howdy and welcome to the forum. Sorry I don't know anything about air bags, but hopefully someone will be along soon with some words of wisdom!

Welcome to irv2. I'll move this to the Monaco Forum where some members with similar models may respond.

AFAIK your Beaver is on a modified Roadmaster chassis with 8 air bags. It should have one ride height valve in front and two in the rear. I would start by visually checking out the air valves, arms and clamps to make sure everything looks the same on both sides in the rear. Check for leaks at the valves and bags using soapy water solution. If the ride height is the same on both sides it may just be one valve is slower responding than the other. That would prompt me to replace the valve but may not be necessary.
The ride height can also be checked and adjusted. Call Monaco for specifics related to your model. Don't assume it is the same as other models.Ride Height Adjustment-4.pdf

Or you could just change the routine and start the engine filling the air bags..
Then raise the hyd. jacks.

Thanks for the info, I'll take a look at the ride height valves. I did try to change the routine, but the coach is low enough when on the jacks that it really didn't make a difference. The right side comes up quicker and it leans over.

Hmmm, had a 2002 Beaver Patriot that did the same thing... The left side came up first and then the right side would raise. Had it checked for ride height ETC, never did sort it out.
