Uneven tire wear

I got such good info on my hot water pressure issue, I'm back again. I recently noticed some uneven tire wear on the left front tire. The outside shoulder seems to have been worn down and the single outside tread is cupped. Before I take it to a tire shop, I was hoping someone out there might know what the problem is, balancing or alignment. Once again, thank you for helping me out.

Oh, I forgot, new shocks installed two years ago.

I would lean toward alignment with the slim possibility of a loose/worn wheel bearing on that wheel. Generally balance will show itself in bounce or wobble with spotty wear.

There are others here who know more about this than I who should chime in soon, but those would be my thoughts.

Best of luck.

Steve

I had a similar problem with the OEM goodyear tires. If that's what you have, go with another brand.

X3 on the Goodyear!! However, I suspect this is not your trouble since I had "rivering" on both steer tires, not just one.
