Unknown Warning Beeper

My 2006 HR Ambassador sounds a beeper when I put it in gear. Sometimes it lasts 10 seconds, sometimes 2 minutes. Power Gear jack reservoir is full and disconnecting the level wire didn't help. I think it might be the switch on the brake knob.
In any case, I tried to find the beeper, but could not. Looked under the dash but it was FULL with wires. Where is it and how do you get to it??? It is in the dash area. Thanks in advance.

Pete

Pete - if you look at the steering column, this will at some point protrude horizontally towards the front of the MH. On top of this could be a small box known as a annunciator. This is the one that gives off sound as you unlock the MH and the "ping" from your indicators etc. Maybe that it what gives off the sound you can hear??? Have a look at this thread.

If so, what causes it to "ping" is another matter.

Good luck

I'm assuming it has air brakes. The switch (under the brake knob) has been a frequent cause of trouble. Do a bit of searching in here and you should find some very good & detailed information on how to find it and replace it. Not a difficult job.

Good luck!

My friend Rusty is referring to a Nason switch. Here is a thread about that.

Quick test to see if is the parking brake sensor. When it alarms put the transmission in neutral and the alarm will cease. Place the transmission in drive and it will return.

My MH has done this for the past two years. Will replace the switch when it lasts for more than 10 minutes.

Good Luck.

Our 2006 Knight does it, 99% sure its the park brake sensor. I can usually monkey with the plunger a couple of times and it stops.
