Voltage at IGN switch

What is the normal voltage at the IGN terminal with the key turned on? I noticed mine was about 11.6 while the engine battery voltage was well over 12. Double checked after removing terminal from switch making sure contact was good& tight... same 11.6 v at switch and where wire connects to the coil terminal of solenoid in front run bay. Meanwhile the voltage on the heavy cable terminals well above 12. This was all while plugged in to shore power.

Is the 11.6 normal? or is that ignition switch going bad?

Not knowing how your system is put together, its hard to say. But it would not be normal to see that much voltage drop across a pair of contacts in a switch. The voltage drop over whatever contact resistance there is will be directly proportional to the load on that circuit. But I would not expect 11.6 to be normal.

It is not unreasonable to expect that the switch might not need to be replaced, though, depending on how many switch cycles it has experienced. It might not be a bad path to follow, as it wouldn't be terribly expensive to replace it.

It's probably not too different from your '06 Dynasty... (here's the page from my Monaco WD book attached). I'll need to do some back-twisting again and measure voltages at each terminal.

I've read a few threads about replacing ignition switches on coaches. Hope this one is not too different. Looking at the key, my guess is it's from some GM product; perhaps someone knows.
