Wakarusa Repair Facilty
David and I just finished several weeks of warranty work at the recently reopened Wakarusa facility. The experience was very positive. We worked with Mike Miller to get a defective bedroom slide window shipped to them in advance of our appointment. Our service coordinator, Kim O'Brien was phenomenal and our primary service tech, Stan, was great to work with. We came in with a "laundry" list of small to significant items to be checked/repaired. They also found some things they thought should be taken care of once we arrived. Everything was addressed with no pushback. They even took the coach to the factory "rain" booth to make sure the leaks were fixed. The only outstanding item is the drivers side window which has lost its seal and gets a lot of moisture between the panes. This was an add on item after we arrived. The window is back ordered from Atwood. Since we weren't going to be in the area in the near future, they arranged with Alliance in Florida to do the installation once the window is available.
It looks like the shop is staying busy with 8-10 coaches in at any given time. We stayed in one of their campsites (water and electric with dump station) and shared some wine with some others spending a few days. Stan came out to get the coach around 7:30 each morning and brought it back out around 4. They have a customer area with Internet and are planning on upgrading the lounge area. Not much to do in Wakarusa, but some of the nearby towns have walking/biking trails as well as local arts and crafts. The biggest drawback was the expanding waistline from the farmhand sized breakfasts! We did tour the Monaco and Newmar (former owner) factories and enjoyed seeing the different practices between the two.
Monaco in Wakarusa will definitely be our go to place for service and repairs when we are in the mid-America region.
