Water heater issues

My water heater works okay with 120v power hooked up to shore power but the LP gas function won’t light. I have a 2006 Knight 38’ PDQ with a 10 gal DSI. Showing fault on the control panel and no pilot light in the water heater bay.

12v switch was on steady indicating it didn’t light. Turned it off to reset, now no light at all.

Where do I go from here?

Guide me oh wise ones!

Thanks,
Jerry

DSI isn't a brand name, it just means 'direct spark ignition.' Find out your make and model of water heater then look online for a service manual and troubleshooting guide. It could be as simple as spider webs in the air mixing tube or expensive like a bad circuit board. The service manual will give you simple tests to narrow down the issue.

Welcome to the forum:

If possible, post some pictures and try to find out what model it is. They are not complex devices but I don't want to post a lot of unrelated diagrams.

If no light is showing with the 12 volt switch on it could be the bulb failed while cycling it on and off which adds to the issue of course. A fuse could have failed too.

Look in the bedroom and perhaps hidden in the closet is a fuse panel. Could be a blown fuse. A test light touched on each end of the fuses is a quick way to sort that out.

Thanks

I appreciate the help. I discovered that the 2 amp fuse on the relay board was corroded and once I scraped it off, the DSI kicked in and lit the burner. Hot water all weekend.
