When I had to replace my waterhose, I found that I had to remove the big plastic panel in the wet bay in order to get to the hose reel, and that this was near impossible without breaking it.

I opted for a different approach because of this. I bought a brass barb to barb fitting and a couple of stainless hose clamps. I then pulled out the old hose, leaving about 2 foot of the old hose on the reel. Here is where I cut the old hose and added the new one using the barb to barb fitting.

Easy job and the next hose replacement will be the same. The 2 foot long old hose will last a long time because it doesn't normally get exposed to UV rays.

Good luck with the replacement

That's a great idea. I have been putting off changing a old white water hose. Now I will do it

Great idea. One question, though. I believe the hose on my reel is 3/4", and it is a thin wall hose. If I bought a standard 3/4" 50 ft. hose I would never get it on the reel. If you had the same situation, how did you get around this?

Mine was wearing thin in a couple of places so I ran the hose all the way out then cut it about a foot after leaving the coach. I then put on a female hose coupler. I cut it there so in case the coupler leaks, it leaks on the ground and not in the bay. I like the short reel hose as I can ensure all of the water is out when I winterizing vice allowing the hose to expand when it is at its brittle-est(?). Additionally, the old hose would kink on the reel and thus reduce water flow. Now I just run the old hose out and connect my good quality 50' hose. The 50' wouldn't fit on the reel anyways and I did not want to cut it at a place when the reel is maxed full.

When my hose went bad several years ago, I called TDI (original mfgr, but I think they mighta got bought out) and they sent me out a new hose, gratis. Might be worth a try, in any case. The hose is quite thin, and held on to the reel fitting with a hose-clamp.

BTW, from what I understand, some hose and cable reels from around the 2006 +/- timeframe were installed backwards by Monaco. IE, the cable or hose would come off the bottom of the reel rather than the top, and that contributed greatly to the cable/hose kinking or binding when being wound-up. For the hose, the solution was to remove the big white panel (yes, it's a pain but can be done, especially if the weather is warm enough for it to bend a little) and then reverse the entire reel. If anyone else's is like this, it may solve 2 problems at once.

Well, digging a bit further, I found Technology Research (800-780-4324) did buy out TDI several years ago. Looks like they merged some of their products, like Shoreline Reels too. Their part number for the 1/2" x 40 ft hose is 18306B-SR (but she cautioned me that some parts weren't interchangeable - I'd think a simple hose would be tho), and they don't sell direct. I'd have to call someone like a distributor or maybe Camping World. Camping World online didn't answer.

I'm sure it's gonna be pricey. That 25 ft one from HomeDepot for $15 is looking better all the time.

I just installed the $15 white Home Depot hose. Worked perfect. Cut and spliced like our other member did.

But, wait! There's More!! Digging further, I think I found the OEM for the 1/2" x 40ft hose!

Company called Gilmour (gilmour.com) and they sell a 1/2" hose that's 50ft long (part number 12-12050). My old hose is 0.80" in outside-diameter and they guy at Gilmour said that's the same dimension as theirs (so the maximum will be able to fit on the reel).

They sell thru a lot of places, and I just ordered one on eBay (not too many S&B stores in the Keys). Reasonable prices too.

I'll let y'all know what I find.
