water in compartments

I have an 09 Cayman R4R chassis and have had water getting into compartments while driving in heavy rains. Only twice has it caused electrical chassis/engine problems. Right rear compartment housing a Bussman fuse panel which got wet many electrical issues until dried out. Probably should replace the Bussman fuse panel (fear future problems with corrosion). Large compartment housing tanks gets wet constantly. I have tried to seal the compartments with very little luck. Anyone else had water entering compartments and any success at fixing the problem?

You would think that the manufacturers would have gotten it right by now on making leak-less motorhomes. It is not as if slides are something new on the market. deSanford

Ted, in response to your origional question: I experienced the same thing but in a different compartment. I found a couple screw holes that Monaco mounted then remounted a device over the top of the origional holes. What I ended up doing was using expanding spray foam around the outside of the compartment between any structural and the compartment. Then when done sprayed a heavy coat or two of 3M undercoating over the top of the foam. Good Luck.

Ted,

same problem on an 09 Cayman. Found out, it was the plastic covering the bay doors that warped (Probably due to the heat when I left them open for cleaning!) I had to put foam over the rubber gasket and it's fine now.

Hope it helps.

Buford B. Thanks. By the way, where do you get the 3M undercoating. That sounds like a great idea.

It is a spray. Get it at any auto parts store or Wal Mart.
