I have an in-line brass ball cock garden hose shut off attachment that I screwed onto the end of my hose. Never have to worry if the Asco sticks or not. You can pick one up at Walmart. Did that after mine did what you’re describing and I didn’t know at the time how to fix it. That was over 4 years ago.

Agreed. I bought a plastic one and it is worthless.

You could just cleanit up and reinstall. The solenoid swivels do I don't think the direction of the red hat is important. Did you line up the arrow with the in side?

Could you please look at the pictures of my Asco I posted on the bottom of page one of this thread. Please let me know if I should replace?

I did clean the Asco and the system is working much better. Thanks. I am however still leaking water from the hose, when pump is engaged. I suspect I have a check valve somewhere that needs replacing. Finding it is the problem.

I would clean up with a small wire wheel and then lightly sand/clean the mating surfaces. If it still leaks after that, then get the rebuild kit.
Note the orientation of the vent hole.

My pump still runs after sitting! I may tackle the water pump. Pduggs, I would remove your valve and soak the brass castings in CLR or maybe
vinegar. Or maybe like Mike said. Good luck finding the rebuild kit at a decent price. I was thinking of calling Asco and asking them why the kit is so expensive.

It's crazy, a new valve is $120-140, but a rebuilding kit for that same valve is $100 (which doesn't even include the coil)!
I bet they don't sell many rebuilding kits.

Glad your problem is solved. I fixed mine this morning. I am almost ashamed of what I found. I took the valve apart to make sure I did not err in the assembly. Nope all was OK. I am getting real good at working in the basement. But my old body is aching. At noon after nothing had changed I decided to try hooking up a hose and switching to water tank fill. The valve switched and I could hear water in the line to the tank. I also heard a lot of gurgling and spitting. Air in the system!! Must have been partially air locked. When we returned from Mexico in the spring the weather turned cold. Still had water in the unit. I am paranoid about having the AquaHot freeze. That can be a $6 or 7000 mistake. I did not want to use antifreeze so I hooked up my compressor and spent an afternoon blowing out lines. I watched the weather and ran the AH when the temps got to minus 2 Celsius. A few nights it actually hit minus 10. Other years I ran the AH but only drained the system. No air used. But most nights it was above freezing. So my problem was an empty system and an air lock!!
