Water Leaking Into Fresh Water Holding Tank

The fresh water holding tank is filling up with water due to a low volume leak and I suspect it's not the Watts brass three way ball valve used to divert water to the fresh water holding tank while connected to city water. I am thinking it might be the check valve in 4008-101-E65 Surflow water pump. I don't think this pump has a replaceable check valve, so my questions are:

a. Would you install a shutoff valve in the fresh water holding tank fill line? This adds a winterizing gotcha if I fail to remembered to open it during the winterizing procedure. However, its an easy fix!

b. Install an in-line check valve on the suction side of the pump? If so, what check valve type/brand would you use?

c. Replace the pump?

d. Is there another point in the fresh water plumbing that could be causing this problem?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Bill

Just went through the exact same thing. Ours had a valve already between the FW tank and the pump so I closed that. Worked for a couple weeks untill a major leak occurred when the strainer attached to the pump cracked from the incoming city water pressure. It looks like it was designed to hold pressure from the pump but when the check valves/ diaphram in the pump head failed it couldn't handle the pressure from other direction. Ours was an variable speed Aquatech. I called the company for some information about a possible rebuild but was told that version was obsolete, but I could try disassembling the head to reset the check valves. The check valves are actually ten discs held by a rubber type diaphram. My quest to rebuild the head ended when I snapped off two bolts. I just replaced the pump with a newer version labeled under the Remco brand but built by Aquatech. I'm going to install a check valve between the pump and the coach to relieve the constant city water pressure on the pump head. I'm also going to put a pressure guage in so I can see the actual water pressure.
