Water Pump Not Responding

Hey Y'all,

My water pump was working fine about a week ago. And now it is not. I checked with my volt meter and confirm that it is getting power.

It doesn't make any sound when I switch it on. And no increase in water pressure inside the coach. If I turn the city water off, I have zero pressure.

I searched the forum to see what replacement units folks were recommending, but couldn't find anything. I guess they are pretty reliable. I guess I had bad luck just two weeks into our first outing with out Monaco Signature 42' .

I appreciate any insights you might have.

Mine went out last year. You can google the model number you have now to get a replacement. I tried to keep the new one same as the old one so it was an easy swap out.

My new one came with an in line fuse. You don't need it so cut it off before you install. You already have a fuse in your 12 volt fuse box (or intellitec system).

You didn't say what year coach you have - but the pump most widely used is this ShurFlo one:

But be sure to verify/match with your existing pump part number before ordering anything.

Some like the Remco pump (has higher pressure output), but I would not go through the trouble of configure the mounting and hoses to fit this pump - I would just replace the pump with the same model so everything (mounting holes and hoses) matches up.

Do you have waterpump switches at different locations?
If so the latching relay may have failed. They switch the ground source so it’s possible to have power but it won’t run without the ground source.

Jumper in a ground at the pump, you said you have power to the pump and then you
will know for sure. I had my latching relay fail, it was a diode in it that failed and as
the electronic shop didn't have same app draw as mine I put a higher amp on in and
it works better than the old one.

Check for power right at the pump. If you have power then sounds like pump is shot.

Thanks for your replies everyone.

Here is a picture of the pump. I don't know the model number and won't be able to find out for another wk, since the coach (a 2002 Signature Triple Crown, BTW), is parked at a site 2 hours from here.

I wish I understood what a couple of you were talking about with the latching relay. I am not electrically-inclined enough to know what that means, nor how to test. I do confirm that the pump is getting power. And I have at least 4 switches that turn the pump on/off.

And one other question... Does that filter that attaches to the pump need to be replaced? I have no idea if it comes with the pump, or if I need to source that separately.

Doubt IF pump is issue........

You have 4 switches that turn pump on/off.....then you also have a latching relay
Latching relay is more likely the culprit

Something like this:

Installed like this:

And wired like this:

Please ignore my comments if they’re off base but since it hasn’t been specifically stated by you or any of the other respondents, have you checked whether any of your faucet shut-offs are in the off position?

Your coach may not be equipped like my old rig but if I happen to use the shower wand shut off, the shut off on the kitchen sink faucet aerator, or the shut off on the wet bay hose end, then every water fixture on the coach will act like it has no water pressure. It could be something as simple as that if your coach is set up that way.

In answer to your other question, no, you don’t have to replace that part attached to the pump. It can usually be unscrewed and attached to a new pump. It’s a strainer and most of them can be opened and cleaned out.

Hope you get it sorted out soon. At least a water pump is usually an inexpensive and easy fix. Good luck!

Easiest to get the same pump as replacement. If its been doing a good job and an upgrade is not felt to be needed.

If the pump is in fact not bad, then you have a spare.

You will remove from existing pump and reuse.

That is just a screen that you would clean out and reuse. It does not come with the pump.
