Weird air leak?

When we first got our Monaco Camelot 2.5+ years ago it had some air leaks. We tracked them down and fixed them and replaced the air dryer. All has been well for the last 1.5 years. We full time and move every week or so usually. Just a couple days ago, we noticed the coach lost air overnight. (Stayed level but one tank was at 0 the other at 40psi.) It then had trouble building pressure. The purge valve on the air dryer was leaking air during load cycle. We revved the engine to 2000rpm and it stopped leaking and built pressure and purged and regenerated normally. There was some oil in the purge spray, so i think we are getting some oil from the air compressor and that we will likely need to replace that and the air dryer cartridge. I checked during the day and found no leaks. What is odd is that the system stays at 115 psi both tanks all day/evening, but sometime between midnight and 1000am drops the tanks down to 0 and 40 psi. Does anyone have ideas as to what might cause it to suddenly leak in the middle of the night? Could the governor be sending odd signals to the air dryer? We heard nothing and nothing was powered on, even the auto leveling was off. Could the decrease in temperature cause an issue? The temperature overnight only got down to 40F.
It's frustrating after working so hard to get the air system right; but I am assuming it has something to do with the oil blowby, the compressor going bad....???? But why only after midnight?
Thanks!

Could it be getting cold enough at night to shrink a hose or fitting enough to create a leak?
Then when it warms up the hose or fittings expand and seal off again?

I had my original Meritor Wabco dryer releasing tank air pressure randomly with the engine off. Discovered it while under the coach draining the oil, and heard the air release from the purge valve (low flow).
When I replaced the dryer, it came with a pressure protection valve. I figured the best move would be to replace one part at a time.

Replaced the dryer, since that was easiest to get to, and the issue stopped.

Since you have recently replaced the dryer, you may want to think about replacing the PPV that backfeeds tank air for the regeneration proccess.

One other thing...

I'm going to assume they mounted your air dryer in the engine compartment the same as mine.

While it makes for convenient maintenance, I don't think Monaco did us any favor's mounting it at about the same level as the compressor!

The air line feeding the dryer is supposed to be a downhill slope the entire length. Owners who mainly travel in dry climate don't seem to have any issues with this, but some of us wet coasters do!

Thanks! Ours did that too before we replaced it. It was good after that until now. Hope we don't have to replace that valve since where it is is nearly impossible to get to to work on it. Since the oil may have messed up our air dryer again, I might see if fixing the compressor and dryer fixes it again.

Do you have your leveling system just powered off on the panel, or the compressor fuse pulled?

Easy to panic and go to worst case ....but if purge got stuck open,it try to blow out any residual oil that is lighter than water but more likely to cling and coat everything. Not a lot of owners had to replace the compressor.
When 96 Wideglide mentions leveling system are you /he wondering if bags on wheels raised are finally are dumping and continue to do so. The check may be leaking between the tanks . it's a puzzle for sure.

Air leveling is just powered off at the panel. Not hearing it adjusting either.

Leveling seems to be holding pretty good.

Oddly enough, last night we put on the aqua hot engine preheat overnight and the gauges read 110 and 115 psi this morning.... Coincidence???

Yeah, I wouldn't think the two would be related.

The reason I asked whether your aux compressor fuse was pulled is you can get plenty of air loss thru that compressor. I've had mine leak bye bad enough I could hear the air escape standing in front of the coach! Obviously, I had the fuse pulled, or the compressor would have started.

You also have a different PPV that would stop tank pressure bleeding back thru this little compressor at about 65psi.

Since you still have power going to your aux compressor, and it's not running every few minutes, you can probably rule that out.

I too having trouble with my air. The rig's curbside rear is losing air overnight. Funny, it did not happen when I was inspecting the rig in Florida. I wonder if the northeast cold has something to do with it.

It certainly can!

These press fit airline connectors can leak when they get cold!

Well, I'm tired of sliding off the bed and walking sideway in the rig. Any recommendations on a fix is appreciated.

Thanks,
