Speedco offered me the same thing, but as mentioned earlier, I always carry spare filters my self, so I could "afford" to turn down their suggestion. I wonder if Speedco's manual is saying that the LF3000 is an appropriate substitute while Cummins say that it isn't? If that is the case I would be curious to find out which one on them is correct.

I just did a search on the two filters an found that cummins upgraded the LF3000 in 2007 to the LF9009 which is a venturi type filter and supposedly does a much better job. Next time I go to speedco, I will have all my filters with me. I guess I learned a lesson today.....Bruce

The LF9009 is the upgrade to the LF3000. I didn't even know the latter was still available.

The nice thing about Speedco is they let you in the service bay so you can watch what they do and asked questions. I wonder what happened to the insurance rule of no customers in the service area.

We used the one in Salt Lake City area last summer. Awesome service and great people. We just drove in the "Exit" door instead. That was an easier solution to trying to back over an open pit?!? I've always been under the impression diesel fuel filters have to be primed - it will kill your starter cranking forever otherwise!!
Price was about 1/2 of the Cummins Dealer and we got to chat and see the work being done. They actually had me turn the steering wheels (after OLF was done!) to get some zerk fittings in the front steering linkage.
Loved them! We'll find one for our next service this year too!
