What is a "dw"?

I know it refers to the "better half", but I don't know what the D or the W is short for. deSanford

Usually Dear Wife
There are times when the D has been used in other ways.

Cutting through the abbreviations

"D" equals "Dear"

Add another letter to get:

"H" = husband
"W" = wife
"D" = daughter
"S" = son

The DW and I went through a few of the D's trying to figure it out ourselves.

I prefer SWMBO - from an old TV program called Rumpole of the Bailey. It stands for "She Who Must Be Obeyed".

"To hear is to obey" was another Rumpole saying.

Thank you now I have a good idea what it means when I see "DW". I'm familiar with "YL" and then of course the "XYL". deSanford aka "DH"

DW calls me her TH.... 'Trophy Husband'. She's a month older than me, so I guess it technically fits the accepted usage of the term.
