What switch on the door controls the step?

My step seems to have a mind of it's own. Some time it closes other times it doesn't. I see two push in switches mounted in the door frame 1/2 way up on the forward side. I see another two that seem to be maybe magnetic. They are mounted on the rear door frame very close to the bottom.
Are either of these the ones I'm looking for, or am I out in left field some place.

Just went through this. The answer to your question is the magnetic switch, and that is likely your issue. First make sure the magnet did not slip out of the cheap plastic holder (on the door side), then follow the wires down from the door frame. The blue wire (at least blue on mine) breaks at the connector, which in turn serves to ground the circuit, thus telling the controller to retract the steps.

So mine are white & black is it just one of them that control it or both?

Thanks Mike

One comes from the controller to a 4 way connector then to the switch, the other returns to ground, usually to a screw on the step frame. just follow the wires from the switch back through the door frame and to the step, the ground is likely loose or broken right at the connector. But before you even lay on the ground, take the magnet mount out of the door of the door itself and make sure the magnet is seated properly. Not sure about the wire color to ground, just looked at a wiring diagram and it said brown, not a choice for either of us!

Well it ended up not being the switch. As the MH I just bought was used it just had sat for quite a while. So what I did again was lube all the pivot points for the third time. Working now better then when I picked it up. Light on the dash goes out now too.

Check for excessive play in the motor as well. My light on the dash would come on sporadically. Turned out the fears in the motor were shot, allowing it to close tight sone tomes, but not others.
