What Type Coolant?

I have a 2009 Safari Cheetah with a C9 Cat engine. According to the Cat manual, it could have conventional coolant with the additives or the ELC coolant depending on what Monaco used. The Safari manual is not specific either and says it could be either coolant. Does anyone know what Monaco was using in 2008? There is no label on the overflow bottle to designate which coolant it may contain. Thanks in advance for the help.

I would call Monaco first then check what color that is in it and double check Monacos info, I would be sure the type before adding or replacing and if replacing and not sure the type
be sure to flush REAL GOOD more than once and be sure to have the heater on heat to drain it.

I will be changing my coolant this month and will be changing to ES Complete OAT coolant that I purchased from Cummins. I spoke with Monaco and they filled it with 39 quarts from the factory (ISL 400) with CItco coolant which is green. I will be glad to get rid of the test strips. Glad to be a member of this forum because I would be lost when it comes to Diesels.

I have a 07, 42' Camelot, 400 ISL, with AquaHot -- I`m changing over to Final Charge antifreeze -- When I drained the radiator, & block, I only got 8 gallons -- I have flushed the system 4 times, but haven`t got more than the 8 gallons - I disconnected the heater hoses up front, & blew air into them to empty -- The owners manuel states the the original fill was 39 quarts, but where is the rest of the coolant? 7 quarts is a lot to be hiding somewhere -- Bill Willard

Bill,

I spoke with Monaco today and the tech told me that we should get about 8 gallons out. Did you run the heater and flush that out? I read 1 of the posts and one guy added 2 gallons of full strength and the rest 50/50 mix which I am going to do also.

On a 10 gallon system that will only drain out 8 gallons, just put in 8 gallons of 50/50 and 2 gallons of straight coolant. You'll end up with a 50/50 mix.

Sorry...meant 6 gallons. You can't edit these after 20 minutes.

Don you may want to do the math again.
Two gallons left in the system, 8 gallon drain out, it's hard to get 10 gallon in.
Add 2 gallons of straight coolant top off with 6 gallons of 50/50.

Thanks Don,

I read your reply to another thread regarding you adding 2 straight gallons along with the 50/50 mix and so I ordered 2 straight gallons and will do the same as you.

FYI if you have 60/40 or 50/50 or 40/60 as long as you keep all levels full you will be ok this is just a standard mix but in reality you Coach will not blow up or have harm done if the mix is not perfect.
