Where can I find rear engine hood struts
07 Beaver Marquis. Auto stores have right length but the hole on one end of the strut is to small. Anyone know where I can get new struts? How the heck do ya compress the struts enough to put them on the two small studs? I got old ones off but can't even get them back on because I can't squeeze them in enough to hook back up??? Thanks in advance for any help guys.

Sorry don't have a clear answer for you, best guess is:
I am assuming something here, which I know is dangerous. Gas struts normally are fully extended when the hood is fully opened. In replacing all of mine compression was never required.
Struts are designed by length at open and lbs. of thrust developed, such as 24" and 24Lbs.
Regarding the difference in the attaching end, you may want to try an RV store as your source, or your manufacturer vs. standard automotive.
Good luck.

Here you go:
https://www.liftsupportsdepot.com/re...nt-gas-springs
I ordered a pair for the rear window in my Toad, they work great. Was just out to the MH and in the cold (well, cold for here) the struts don't work as well as in the summer. I gotta replace all, one compartment at a time.
Write down all the number-letter info from your existing struts and give them a call, they'll help you figure it out.

I just did this a few months ago.
A ratcheting cargo strap wrapped around the strut. Compress it with the ratchet.
I found a supplier in Canada tgat had them for about $40/each if I recall.
Of course now, I can't recall the name of the company. [emoji15] .
I actually went to a #120 strut as apposed to the factory #140. On my cosch, I really have a hard time pulling the cover down.
The factory #140 strut is 752991.
Oh, the struts in the stores are a lighter weight unit, thus, the smaller hole.

I bought some cargo bay door struts here https://www.futuresalesrv.com/
They are very helpful and can convert (part numbers of) any odd brand strut to something more common (like Stabilus).
