We called to make an appointment in Wildwood and they wouldn't make one. The gal said they weren't taking any appointments after April 09 and canceling all the one made after that. Any one out there heard anything? She wouldn't confirm closure. Looks like we are going to head for Oregon.

Wow, about 15 miles from Wildwood right now. Circled the camp and things looked normal, but a bit slow. Fantastic looking upper end coach painted in a Ron Jon Surf Shop scheme. Looked like a giant woody station wagon.
Cancelling appointments not a good sign. That was the first public clue that WRV (Alpine) was about to close their doors. Best of luck to all.

Service Centers can make money only if the majority of the work is for paid service. If most is warranty, like Wildwood, it operates at a loss but promotes good customer relations.
In hard times (severe), customer relations don't feed the bulldog!

so does it cost monaco more to pay their dealers for the warranty work or pay their own employees to do the work. assuming that their own techs might be a little more up to speed on things it would make a person wonder! jim.

The dealers are reimbursed at a reduced rate for warranty. They also normally get paid per the code for the repair, not by the hour. With the overhead of Wildwood (facility, staff, park and inventory), I would guess that it is cheaper to pay a Dealer.

Forgot, plus with virtually no sales for the past year and a bleack future, no need for warranty repairs with few coaches sold!

I never had work done at the Wildwood facility, but did have repair work done at Monaco's service center in Indiana and Oregon.
I found that productivity rates at both facilities was very low. I think at the most an employee out of an 8 hour shift worked 4 hours and during those worked hours it was slooowwww.
I think that warranty work performed at the dealers is costing Monaco, much less than their own facilies.
