Wind sensor woes.

When I purchased our unit years ago, the anemometer that retracts the Girard awning had been previously torn off the roof other than the base. From the remnant I deduced it was a Girard GC116I anemometer. I ordered and installed same, gave it a spin, and to my surprise, it worked! (No programming or pairing required). This summer, after a long trip on a hot windy day I found that the wind cup assembly had fallen off. I ordered another GC116I and installed it. Not so lucky this time. I have tried different pairing procedures. The GC116I and GC136 (motor controller) appear to connect, but the GC116I will not retract the awning.

I never did rely on the wind sensor, but now that I have bought a new one I would like it to work...

Any ideas?

Thanks

I go to the point where mine was about to be removed with a 12guage. Now i just shut the awning off and strap it to the ground if i am unsure.

When I installed my replacement I could not get awning to retract with spinning propeller, called Girard and they said it would take something like a 25 mph wind, they told me to try air nozzle, I did and it retracted as advertised.

The trick was to set the windspeed setting on the anemometer between 1 and 2. Then push the "Program" button, followed by "Stop" on the motor control. Press "Up" on the anemometer and the awning retracts and the devices are paired.

I did not have the windspeed setting between 1 and 2, and it will not pair until it is. Not sure why they designed it that way.
