Try this place

https://pdxrvwholesale.com/t/interior-window-parts

I think the different numbers are left and right sides , they are different .

In desperation a couple of yrs ago I bought a short length of 2 " ( memory )
aluminum angle , grabbed my hack saw , file , dremel and made me one .

It was not fun but it won't break like those cheapo things that are so expensive .

At this point, I did order the one that I found on Amazon for $26, including shipping, and will see if I can find a source or substitution for the rivet that had to be drilled out to remove the broken latch. Then, if I can't find another source, I'll probably try to fashion one out of aluminum as 10Boomer suggested.

As 8.3Oilbuner suggested, a call to Beaver in Bend could be a good idea. Mfire1339 suggested Winnebago, but I have to share that it is Winnebago that is selling me the one I ordered on Amazon, and they indicated it was the last one in their stock.

Also, if anyone does find a 3D printer capable of producing them that would be great! In fact, that would likely be a place were significant numbers could ultimately be produce and sold, likely for a nice profit.

I did call NW RV Supply the other day, and they told me they were out of them, and did not have a source for any more. They did take my name, though, and said that they keep lists of such things and when they have parts come available, they contact the folks that had been searching for them. That's incredible customer service. But at this point, unless we find someone that's got a bunch of them stockpiled somewhere, we'll be using the stick like nehusker33 suggested. Not a very attractive option for coaches as nice and high quality as what those of us on this forum are running around America's roads

Fellow Monacoers, BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO BREAK YOUR WINDOW LATCHES!!!!!!!!!

And on a higher note, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a fantastic, healthy, safe and happy New Year 2018! God bless!

The folks at NW RV Supply said that Atwood divided itself among a number of other companies when they broke up, and at this point, they were not aware of anyone picking up the slack on selling or manufacturing replacements for these types of latches.

This could be a really big deal for those of us with 2000's Monaco motorhomes!!! Has anyone recently found a source for these latches?

It appears there are 1 ⅝" and 2" latches, and I believe mine to be the 2" variety. There are also two part numbers. One is DH407-CK and the other is DH287-CK that look identical and are both 2", I believe. Don't know what might be the difference between the two.

I did find one on Amazon, and they said they only had one left in stock. $26.00, for crying out loud, plus shipping!!!

Anyway, I am now looking for a couple of spares. Anyone have a line that is known to still be good for these pieces of essential hardware?
I bought the red and black ones from:
https://www.guaranty.com/parts

1 x
Window Latch Red - $16.62
SKU: 09490077

1 x
Window Latch - $18.72
SKU: 09490076

Thank you to City to City! I went to the Guaranty website and found them. I ordered the black one that they show. Their website shows both, with a tape measure in the photo, and they are a different size. I knew there were two sizes, but didn't know that the color might be the designator of which size it would be. We require the black ones.

Other update: I spent a good share of yesterday developing an "engineering" drawing of the latch with the thought of finding a source for a 3D printed replacement. Unfortunately, I need an acceptable 3D software program to make it usable by the 3D printers. If anyone has the ability to get my "Top / Front / Right" drawing, with all dimensions, into a 3D CAD program, that would be a great first step towards getting one "printed". If a couple of dozen could be printed, and then put on eBay, the cost of development could probably be recovered. Just a thought.

Other update: I mentioned earlier that I ordered the last one they had from Winnebago. Tracking by the USPS, from the Amazon link on the order, said that it was delivered to our RV park post office Tuesday at 1:42 PM. The park post office has no indication that had happened. It is not here! Additional research on the Amazon order suggests it might be delivered next Thursday! So Amazon says I have it, and Amazon says it's coming!

I placed the order too late in the day yesterday to know if it will turn out that Guaranty can supply it, or if they, too, are out of stock. Probably have to wait until Monday to see if this will be a "win"!

Cheers to all, and a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!! Also, I wish you a Happy New Year 2018 full of good health, safe travels, great fun and fantastic RV'ing!!

Good afternoon K7JV; I sure hope you get you latches in the mail as ordered. As mentioned in my previous post, I got mine from Parkin-Acc. When you started this post, Parkin showed them on their web page under Atwood Window Parts. Since your inquiry to them, the page now shows, not available. Amazing how that works! I don't know if anyone here touched on the difference of sizes for the length of the latch, so if I am repeating what others know, sorry in advance. The different lengths are to accommodate the difference in widths of the single pane window to the double pane window. Can't remember which is which. Going out to check my extra parts as I bought some extra ones when I bought our Windsor back in 2015. Got to get digging. Have a great weekend.

It’s my understanding the 2” is for double pane windows and the 1 5/8 is for single pane.

Clyon that is correct! 3D printers aren’t too cheap.

Over the course of the last 23, I’ve broken a few of the Atwood latches. When sliding the pane closed, sometimes the latch is not in the fully open position. Then as the latch slides across the last vertical piece of the window frame, it catches, flexes and then snaps in two. Man, I hate that!

Looking at that vertical window frame you can see a small portion of the rubber that lies between the frame and glass. Now slowly slide the glass closed. More than likely, you will see a rub mark aligning on that rubber where the latch bumps it. If the latch were fully open all the time, there would be no mark.

But, as the latches get older, the get looser. So, the widows on one side tend to fall to the open position, where the other side falls toward the closed position. The later are the problem.

This gets back to 3D printing. Printer filaments keep getting better, but I wonder if the would hold up against the sideward load. We need a guinea pig!

Harry

If you remember the slide awnings on older coaches like our 03 Windsor
with the ( ? ) arms , they have little plastic slide locks that break .
I ordered 2 of those plastic locks from Chris T at StoneVos and they
apparently are made by a 3D printer since you can see what looks
like layer upon layer .
I don't know what material but they seem even stronger that the original .

Can objects be copied like office documents or does a 3D printer
need a Cad program ?

Maybe, with the right filament, they would be strong enough.

3D scanning an object is one way to load it into software, then scan. But, I have read only a little bit on the subject and have no answers.

I just ordered three of the black latches from guaranty.com (SKU: 09490076). The parts guy called the stockroom and confirmed they had 5 in stock before taking my order.
So, there should be two more available...
Apparently, the double-pane windows require the 2" version of the latch.
From the pictures, it looks like the red ones that they list online are the smaller version.
These do not appear to include the shoulder bolt like the atwood kit. I haven't figured out how to replace the rivet yet... so not sure how I will install them.

Latches break fairly easily. We have one broken I suspect when someone tried to break it. I now use a half in dowel painted black which I drop into the window channel. No way to break that. If you make one a little shorter you can leave a window open only an inch or two if you like.

Good afternoon Wamcneil; I worked in the fastener business for 2 years before working in the steel supply business. If you can find a good fastener supplier close to you, I am sure there are some pictures of the shoulder bolt with the nut on the web. Print out a picture and take the new latch to them. It is a high possibility that they will have a shoulder bolt like the ones that came with the latches in stock. When I worked the counter, people would come in will all sorts of strange fasteners and about 95% of the time I could find a match on the shelf. If you go this route, let us know what you find. Good luck!
