Windshield Rubber
The rubber gasket around the windshield on both upper sides is coming loose. Can this wait until I get home to get it re-sealed or do I need to find a glass shop on the road to reseal it? I tried working it back in using a screwdriver, but with the morning sun warming it up and making it more pliable it just pops right back out. Any help greatly appreciated...Bob

I had mine replaced and there was a two week wait for the gasket. Depending on how long you plan to be out the question may be moot. Yours is in a place you can keep an eye on it while driving and if it doesn't leak in the rain I'd wait till I got home. Do you know how long it's been like this? If it's been a while and hasn't gotten bigger you are probably OK. Measure the gaps and check to see if it's growing at a meaningful rate.
Doing it on the road makes it expensive and a real bugger to get any warrantee work done if required. At home you can price around and get the best estimate. Even if it's an insurance job it's worth shopping around. You end up paying through increased premiums for all repairs yours or others.

Thanks Dick, It was half this size coming off our last trip about 2 months ago. I used a putty knife and tucked it back in and it stayed that way for short hops around while pulling the toad to get brakes installed etc., so I thought "problem fixed". It grew to this size after 1 day of driving the extremely rough Ca. Frwys, and then Hwy 101 up to Solvang. I'm planning on going back to Phoenix a different route that hopefully is in better shape.
Before posting this morning, I did a search on here to see if this was a common problem. It seems that many have been able to use their same gasket and just have it "caulked" with special sealant. Is that still an advisable way to go?

Pick up a 90 deg pick, most hardware, Home Depot stores will have one, and slide the pick in the seal that is open , spray Silicone to made it slide easy, the seal will close as you move the pick.

This is a common problem with big windshields on motorhomes. Our dealership did dozens of reseats.
As the other poster said, don't do it on the road as warrenty would be an issue. using eurathane to hold it in position is a permanent fix. Do not spray silicone in the seal if you plan to cement the window into position. The silicone will cause the cement to NOT adhere to the window or rubber seal.

Thanks, I'm pretty sure I can make it home. Is applying the urethane a DIY job, or does the windshield need to come out first?

The windshield has to be centered and positioned carefully. It will not have to be removed. This is best done by someone who has done a lot of them. I would call several motorhome dealers in you area and see which glass company comes up the most. Motorhome manufacturers usually don't use eurethane on the production line, not because it is not better, but because the motorhome must sit 24 hours to cure. make sure you make plans for the MH to sit for 24 hours after the install.
