Wiper Frame

2006 La Palma Diesel pusher.

I had the frame that supports the whole wiper assembly break in two. The driver's side wiper worked intermittently while the passenger side was ok.

The break was between the driver's side and the wiper motor, at the pre-cut bend.

I welded the frame back together, and bench tested everything. All OK.

When I went to do the install, I found the pivot arms do not line up, with the existing holes. It was almost as if the holes were out by 1/4 inch. I know this does not sound like much, but it made for a fun afternoon.

The angles of the two bends seem very critical.

I have installed it, but I am not happy with it. The set up.

Has any one else taken on of these Monaco units apart?

Bob

I can't say I've done what you have, but when I replaced my system I did note that the pivots diverge slightly, conforming to the curve of the front cap.

Thanks for the welcome, I have been on and off this site for about a year. I just rarely post, but I do read a lot.

As for the divergence. I think if it breaks again I am going to make one of the pull rods adjustable. That would allow one to set the first side correctly and the adjust to other until the angles are closer.

I believe that in my set up this adjustment would take the stress off the system.

Easy to weld up, when your at home. A big problem on the road. I hope it stays together. The design allows flex while operating causing fatigue at the bend points. Again the push rods have to be exact with this set up.

I did get a new system from Wiper Technologies. The guy I dealt with said that Monaco bought the cheapest parts Wiper Tech would sell and frankly they were crap.

The kit I bought was much more robust and not a really hard replacement project.
