Xantrex AGS Install
Any insights would help. Replaced rv2012 inverter with sw3012 all went well except currently hung up on wiring for AGS 20 point connecter. 2012 only utilized 3 of the four incoming wires green, brown, red labeled gen run 1& 2; gen start 1 & 2. Green wire (gen run 2) was pigtailed into 2 green wire wing nut, 1st brown wire (gen run 1) 2nd brown (gen start 1) all tied into brown incoming feed. Red (gen start 1) pigtailed into incoming red feed. Blue (not used) not sure what this is? Anyhow these are the photos any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

I removed our Trace Freedom Inverter and installed a Magnum inverter and AGS. Attached are my notes on the AGS wires. The Magnum AGS terminal column will not help but the color code, voltage, and notes should help.

Are you trying to find the color coding for the onan generator then? There is also temperature triggers that also hookup and timing for battery charging. Which ones are you connecting?

The only features I'm trying to connect is whatever Monaco had prewired to older rv2012 which in my case it's only gen run and gen start 3 wires 1 red, 1 brown, and 1 green blue wire was not connected not sure what that is for. Anyhow, what's confusing is the 20 point connector that came with AGS unit from the photo you can see it listing several variations for example gen run open gen run closed? The only wires that pertain to my setup are from pins 12 thru 19 not all will be used the questions is which ones. I plan on calling xantrex support on Monday. This has been one long project from inverter connection to SCP network cable not working and now lastly the AGS connection. The silver lining in all this is I have learned tremendously on how my electrical system works and that is has made these struggles valuable.

Your ags has to have a command to start the generator. Why would you hook it up if you have no reasons to? So again, what do you want it to start from? Battery Low voltage, thermostat , interior temperature to high? I am guessing your panel hookup you bought the adapter for the phone wire and didn’t see one end of your original phone cable needed to be flipped. Yeah , who’s empty head at xantrex missed on that one. Anyway it’s onan you need to look at for the generator wires color code , not xantrex.

My RV2012 coupled with the RC7 display has the ability for AGS for voltage. Senses lower voltage and will start generator as needed and then shut off when it reaches a set point. The RC7 communicates through the phone type wire to the inverter but I believe the starting is done with the wiring you are talking about.
I know there is an add on module for temperature, I don't have this through the inverter but added a Onan EC30W system which senses when I loose shore power and if the temp gets too high will start the generator.
When you removed the wires from the generator what terminals were they connected to?? They are labeled and from that you should be able to determine how to connect them to the new inverter. I wouldn't think they would be that much different.

Thank you everyone for your input finally got it squared away. For anyone connecting AGS from a rv2012 to a sw3012 this is the breakdown.
Genset Green-pin 14
"" Brown- pin 16,18,13
"" Red- pin 17
"" Blue- pin 12

How's that EC30W working for you thought about adding that option.

Thankyou for posting this. Marked all my wires when I switched out the inverter but never felt the need to have the generator start. Someday I might! My does have a separate thermostat to hook up to it wired in, but the old gen start is in the basement with the inverter.

My version is obsolete but works as design. Only real problem is that it is a wireless connection to the module you connect to the generator and the signal can be iffy. I had to play with the placement to get it to connect, mounted it ~15' from the front of the windshield.
Onan has a newer version that is suppose to be WIFI capable which would be very handy. Somewhere there is a post on this with a critique of how it performs.
