Year our Roadmaster RR8S chassis was made

Does the Roadmaster RR8S chassis number include information about when it was built? Our Holiday Rambler Imperial was completed in February 2003, but I suspect the chassis was built in 2002. The chassis VIN is 1RF13544X32024913. Can one tell when the chassis was built from that number? Thanks!

Hi Florainer; Not 100% sure but, I think you need the serial number for the year or model year of the chassis. My Windsor was manufactured in February of 01 and the first numbers in the serial number start out, 01. It could be in the Vin. number. If so I don't have a break down of those numbers. Someone recently posted a break down of the Vin. number of Monaco and Holiday rambler coach's. Might try the search box at the top right of this page and see if you get lucky. Good luck in your search!

Thanks for your help!

Thanks, especially to veraken, for your help with this. I was asking because our chassis has the "hard" ride that I've learned on iRV2 comes from having Bilstein "Performance" shock absorbers. A discussion here mentioned that the shocks were changed to Bilstein "Comfort" shocks in 2003. Although ours is a 2003 model year chassis and coach, since it was completed in February 2003 I suspect it has the 2002 "Performance" shocks. The shocks have the anti-rust spray coating on them, which makes me think they're the original ones, and covers up any part number printed on them, so I can't confirm my suspicion. The ride is wonderful on smooth roads, but on poor roads it'll knock your teeth loose and break the dishes. So I guess we'll bite the bullet and change the shocks to Bilstein Comfort or Koni FSD. Thanks again for your help!

I changed my air filter last week and when I was inspecting the engine compartment I happened to see the Roadmaster build information on a stamped plated rived to the inside the engine compartment on the back cap above the engine. It has the build date stamped on the plate, my 2002 was built 08/2001

The koni FSD are at least two times the cost of the Bilstein, but they are a superior shock technology. Note that proper tire inflation is more important than shock type when it comes to ride quality.

I have an article comparing the Bilstein to the Koni FSD, if your interested.
It is in the link below in my signature line under "History, Chassis Info". The article is in the Part 2 document.
