2008 Peterson Excel 33TKE

Hi all, I'm new to this forum. I have a question that maybe someone can help with. I have have a 2008 Excel 33TKE with hydraulic slides. After retracting the slide and allowing the trailer to sit for a couple of days the slide will creep back out about 3 inches. I haven't had it on the highway to see if will continue to creep out more. Does sound like a piston or solenoid issue?

Hi and welcome to the forum. Not many on the forum anymore as they went to the Excel group on facebook. Anyhow......

This is a common problem, but usually cause by a piece of debris in the solenoid(s) on the hydraulic pump. First thing is to change the ATF fluid and add fresh fluid if that has not be done (maintenance says every 3 years). Any ATF type fluid will work. Make sure to work very cleanly as you don't want to introduce thing foreign into the system. To make sure you have the fluid level correct, you should have the rig hooked up to your truck and make sure that all all room slide are retracted and the bedroom slide is extended. The bedroom cylinder works backwards. All jacks retracted too. The fluid level should be about 3/4" below the top of the reservoir tank. I recommend by-passing the solenoid by opening the solenoid and cycling the room one at a time about 4 or 5 times. This is done by using a inserting a 11/32 Allen wrench in the end of the solenoid and turning the screw clockwise and then exercise the room as mentioned above. Close the pintel by turning counterclockwise (Don't forget this step!). After doing this with all solenoids/rooms you should be good to go. Hope that helps. Hope this pic helps. Cool, was just wondering. Seems we all have had that issue. It did work for me, but returned a few months later, ultimately the solenoid and slide out ram were replaced.
