31IKE Kitchen Slide Alignment
Good Morning Everyone,
We bought this rig the end of January and am having so alignment issues on the Kitchen Slide. This problem has been getting more pronounced as the time went on. We left Moriarty in January everything closed perfectly. At this point the forward end and bottom of the kitchen slide is about 2" out from the side of the rig when closed, the after edges seem to fit tight and the gap seems plumb. Both forward and after ends at the top seem tight when closed. When open, the forward end is tight against the wall and the seal seems good but the after seam is not tight at all, maybe a 1/4" from sealing perfectly. Seems very clear that the slide has racked aft. The teeth on the sprocket are off a bit. The factory has been very helpful but we're here and they're there, we've all been there. Has anyone had this issue and what did you do to resolve it?
Thanks so much for everything you may suggest
Jeff and Lynn

We bought our 2014 Winslow 31IKE about two months ago and we had problems with the kitchen slide coming in. It would get stuck. The bottom would come in and the top would hang up and slide would get cocked not come in. I talked to Peterson and they suggested I jack up the slide with a floor jack on the outside and bring it in. This worked and took it to the dealer and they said Peterson had problems with the early Rhino Coat roofs being a rougher surface it bunched up the seal on the outside. The fix was to put a shorter seal on the top of the slide. Now the lip of the seal is about a 1/2" above the top of the slide. I don't know if this correct or not. I thought the seal was suppose to lay against the top in order to seal.

We had the very same problem with our Wild Cargo 41GKE. We went to Smith Center and Ralph told me that the slide was "out of time" with the gears that the rams run on. It takes a bit of work to fix. The slide (corner that is out of time) needs to be raised with a hydraulic jack on wheels and moved to put it back in time with the other corner. Once that is complete it has to be ascertain why it jumped over the teeth gear. In my case the gear pack needed shimming so the ram would stay in contact with the gear pack.

wow. Did PI ok the shorter seal? Jmo, but if PI didn't ok the shorter seal that the dealer installed,I doubt it would be covered for water damage if the seal doesn't do its job.

Yes, the dealer called PI to find out why the slide was binding and PI told the dealer that mine must have been an early one before they realize that the rhino coating was causing the top seal to jam up. PI told the dealer that the fix was a shorter seal.

After numerous conversations with Ralph and Jack at the factory and Kevin at rvsales, we ended up in a shop in Kalispell. Turns out the gear pack on the after part of the slide is not aligned properly but another problem that was even more significant was the sheered pin on the forward part of the slide. That was repaired and we're headed towards the factory in the spring.
Thanks for all the input
Jeff

I sure could use a slice of Moose's pizza right now. And another bottle of Flathead Cherry wine for dessert.
We were in Kalispell during cherry pickin' time.

It's a great place but I'm hardly ever in town anymore so we hardly ever get there. Kalispell has changed quite a bit, how long has it been since you were there?

The seal that was replaced was a wiper seal. It kind bothered me that there was a gap between the top of the slide and the seal so I called PI and talked to Ralph about it. He informed me that seal is just a wiper seal and is used to wipe the top of the slide when it is closing. The slide comes up about inch when closing so the seal will come in contact with the slide top. He said no water should leak in with the slide out.
